Public, Private, Charter and Home-Schooled Students in Grades 1-6 Invited to Submit
The City of Santa Fe Water Conservation Office invites all students in grades 1 through 6 to participate in the 12th Annual Children’s Water Conservation Poster Contest. This year’s theme is How Water Connects Us. Students are encouraged to creatively express one point of view about their connection to water. The entry deadline is Friday, December 5, 2014.
“Water conservation is a critical issue in Santa Fe and anyone of any age can be part of the solution,” said Laurie Trevizo, city water conservation manager. “Incorporating water into art and science education broadens the audience’s awareness of how these subjects are connected,” Trevizo stated.
This year’s theme encourages students to explore how water connects humans, animals and plants, and why conserving water is important, as well as simple ways to reduce everyday water usage.
Judging will take place in 2015; all the winners of the poster contest receive prizes and are featured in the 2016 calendar. The Grand Prize winning poster is displayed on the back of a city bus and on the calendar cover.
