10th ANNUAL CHILDREN’S WATER CONSERVATION POSTER CONTEST
Public, Private, Charter and Home-Schooled Students in Grades 1-6 are Invited to Submit
SANTA FE__ The City of Santa Fe Water Conservation Office invites all students in grades 1 through 6 to participate in the 10th Annual Children’s Water Conservation Poster Contest. This year’s theme is Show Us Your Water Appreciation. The entry deadline is March 15th.
According to Laurie Trevizo, City Water Conservation Manager, “With two years of persistent and severe drought conditions and no end in sight, water appreciation is a logical theme for teaching children the value of water. For the past ten years, hundreds of children have shared their water conservation messages in this popular program.” The winners of the poster contest are featured in the water conservation calendar. Winners of the poster contest receive a prize package that includes conservation kits for saving water at home. The grand prize winning poster is displayed for a year on the back of a city bus and and on the calendar cover. First through third place winners are featured monthly in the calendar. The current 2013 water conservation calendar is currently available at many of the City facilities including the lobby of the Water Division and City Hall.
Teachers and parents are encouraged to discuss the importance of conserving our limited water supply and simple ways they can reduce the amount of water they use everyday.
