Imagine a Day Without Water in Hospitals
Today, the City of Santa Fe Water Conservation Office, in partnership with Santa Fe County and Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center launched the annual Imagine a Day Without Water campaign, a nationwide day of education and advocacy about the value of water.
The partnership developed a video to raise awareness about the role water plays in the Santa Fe community by imagining the public health implications of a day without water during a pandemic.
Christine Chavez, Water Conservation Manager, in support of the campaign stated, "Today we encourage everyone to take a minute to think about what it would mean to go without water for a day and to reflect on the value water plays in our day-to-day lives to inspire the community to continue to ensure our essential and invaluable water systems keep flowing for generations to come."
Past campaigns have partnered with restaurants, breweries, and the City’s Fire Department to bring home the ramifications of why saving water is always in season.
As a joint effort, the City and County invited Christus to help tell a water story related to the pandemic.
Dr. Theresa Ronan, Christus Medical Director of Quality and Green Team Member recognized that, "Public health is our number one priority, and a reliable water supply is important for all of Santa Fe’s public health needs. Our environmental sustainability team continues to work to find new ways to conserve water energy every way possible."
The community is reminded to visit the Save Water Santa Fe website to sign up for the Eye on Water app to monitor your water use and fix leaks, apply for water efficient rebates, dine at certified water wise restaurants, choose waterwise and pollinator plants, and follow water saving tips.
